Today students will explore Google Products.  Students will have two class periods to explore a Google Tool - which they will present to the class on Monday, November 1.  Explore the tool - conduct a Google search to find information about the tool, etc.

Assignment:
Create a blog post:
  • describing tool - features
  • link to download tool
  • pictures
Presentation
In detail walk classmates through your tool.  Going over in great detail your tool's features and abilities.  What is the purpose of this tool.  How do you use the tool? Do you have to download it?

Your presentation must be organized!  Must have a plan for going over the tool - outline - which you will turn in.  Demonstrate tool.  Show how to download the tool, etc.

Today you will look at ways in which you can post to you student blog other than posting from your blogger account!

Students will identify internet tools in which they can utilize to create blog posts from, other than logging onto their blogger account.  They will also compare and contrast each tool.

  • iGoogle - add blogger gadget to iGoogle
  • Email
    • Go to your student blog
    • Click Design
    • Click on the Settings tab
    • Click the Email tab
    • In the Mail-To-Blogger Address - key in your email address
    • Go to your email account
    • Note - the email subject will become the title of the post, and the email message will become the body of the post.
    • Attach a photo to your email and it will be posted to your blog message.
  • Jott from a Cell Phone
    • Go to www.jott.com 
    • Follow the instructions to create an account and add a Blogger link
    • How do I post via Jott?
      • Call the provided number from your cell phone. 
      • When ask what you want to blog, say "Blogger."
      • Speak your message (Limit - 15 seconds)
      • Wait to hear, "Got It"
      • Hang up
    • Within a few minutes, your message should be posted to your blog.

      CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL ASSIGNED ASSIGNMENTS COMPLETE - I will give you 20 minutes to do the following:

      Make sure you have the following completed - remember on your posts to be specific and to add pictures:

      • Create a post about your iGoogle homepage.  Take a screen shot of your iGoogle page and discuss the different gadgets that were available for you to add, as well as discuss the gadgets that you did add.
      •  Create a post - over Blogger gadgets
          • What gadgets did you add to your blog - what gadgets did you explore, etc.  Give examples of gadgets someone could add to their blog.  Be specific - thorough.
        • Check PowerSchool for missing assignments - any zeros -  must turn in a handwritten statement telling me that you have them completed.  This sheet can be turned into the top tray.  If you do not complete the sheet and let me know that you have assignments complete - I will not know to go and check for them specifically - otherwise they stay a zero.  ALL MISSING WORK IS DUE THIS THURSDAY!

          October 7 - Thursday

          Students customized their Google homepage, by clicking iGoogle and changing the theme and adding gadgets.  Students were given class time to explore the gadgets and add them to their iGoogle page.
